For many, buying sneakers started with going to a regular sports store and picking out the styles that could also be worn outside the gym. Apart from running and basketball shoes, outdoor-type models have similarily found a following off the trails. In the early nineties, for example, Salomon boots were quite popular - worn with premium Japanese Denim (Evis...), of course. For Autumn/Winter 2008, New Balance Japan is releasing a number of models in classic outdoor color-schemes. Also part of this Japan-exclusive package is a black/black design that features premium leather uppers and ponyskin (or cowhide?) detailing. It's doubtful that these will end up in 'regular' sports-/outdoor stores - but rather sneaker specialty boutiques... Unfortunately, this package is sold in Japan exclusively... but where there is a will, there is a way... |
