Hannover & Berlin, Germany Today, the problem with professional photography (and professional 'touch-up' jobs) is that the subjects in the pictures might appear to be too real, just too perfect to be real. We have learnt not to trust these images. Coarse Toy's first series of custom-sculpted figures were shot with the utmost precision, at the highest professional level in regards to setting and lighting. Which lead people to belive - judging by the perfection of these images - that the toys just weren't real. Only through their collaboration with Vans, the figures could be produced in higher numbers, providing for a more affordable retail price. Through spreading more of the figures and having them appear at various exhibitions as well as trade shows, proof for their realness was delivered manifold. This year, Coarse Toys are stepping up the game with a new set once again. The figures are real, we know that now. Coarse managed to have a series produced without losing too much of the intricate details from their hand-made versions, that is a fact. What else is there to achieve then? Putting them together as life-size figures! -- Text: JH | Images: © Coarse Toys |
